FAVORITES: October 2017

by - November 01, 2017

So... Um... I went a little bit ham with favorites this month, but I really just couldn't seem to help myself. When I looked back at what I've really been reaching for this past month, the Favorites were clear... and plentiful. I've got a little bit of skin care, a little bit of nails, and basically a ton of makeup to talk about in this favorites... So let's just get into it, shall we?

Keep reading for more!

SKINCARE

Caudalie VINE[ACTIV] Energizing And Smoothing Eye Cream
I actually got this as a bonus on a Sephora order and I wasn't even sure I was going to use it, but I put it to the test and then I started using it constantly. I'm admittedly a little bit lackadaisical with eye cream, but once I started using this I really noticed a difference in the skin around my eyes. Think I might have to get a full size.

belif. Moisturizing Cream Aqua Bomb {Review}
This is clearly a favorite again and I've also been reaching for this constantly. This is just the best day time moisturizer there is for my skin, particularly with the weather changing for the worse. This is lightweight enough that it doesn't feel heavy under my makeup, but crazy hydrating so I never feel dry or right and my makeup actually looks better longer when using it.

Eminence Neroli Age Corrective Hydrating Mist*
I've had this in my collection for quite a while, but I've only been using it really consistently recently. I've actually been using this sort of like a finishing spray and I love what it does for my skin. It definitely helps everything look more seamless and I do find that I get a little hit of surface hydration without disrupting my makeup.

COMPLEXION

Maison Jacynthe Fluide De Teint Foundation* {Review}
This was SUCH a surprise love for me. When I first applied it, I thought it was going to be a flop, but once it was blended in and settled onto my skin, I fell in love. It's a sheer to light coverage, luminous but skin-like finish foundation that just... looks and feels amazing on the skin. Check out my full review for more about it.

Wet N Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals {Review}
This highlight has been occupying a pretty specific place for me. I've been doing a lot of fiery warm makeup looks recently and I feel like I need a warm toned highlighter, but because of my fair, cool toned skin I generally can't wear gold, this is what I've been reaching for. It's warm, but not too yellow and really pairs great with fall warms.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer
This is a rediscovery from shopping my stash and I've fallen right back in love with it. In fact, I think it works better for me now than it used to. I actually like to pair this with the Maison Jacynthe foundation, which seems weird but totally works on the face. The heavy coverage with the hydrating, rich formula of this concealer works with the lighter coverage and texture of the foundation and looks much more seamless than you would think. I need to re-up on this.

EYESHADOW PALETTES

NYX Lid Lingerie Palette {Review}
This has been my number one go to for all matte looks and also for pairing with other shadows this month. It's just a really, really solidly good matte palett. The formula on the shadows is really, really good and it can actually be used for a lot of different looks.

Smashbox Covershot Eye Palette in Ablaze {Review}
I LOVE THIS PALETTE. For fall, it's pretty much got it all. I can go for really bold fiery orange looks, more neutral warm looks, and even pretty berry looks. The formula is really solid, combining blendability with lasting power and pigmentation wonderfully. I highly recommend grabbing the Smashbox Drawn In. Decked Out. Palette Set while it's still available.

Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette
Here's an oldie that came out strong this month after a little stash shop. There's actually been one particular look that I've been using this palette to create. There's a cranberry matte and a sort of berry mauve shimmer in this palette that I've been pairing for a really pretty fall purple eye that I'm obsessed with. So glad I rediscovered this in my collection!

LIPS & LASHES

L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Liquid Lipsticks in Cowboy & Roseblood
So... I probably wore the shade Cowboy at least 15 times last month. It was by far my most reached for lip product and I'm literally wearing it again as I type this. Roseblood, which is a deep, vampy red is my other favorite this month - though that's a lot more night time for me. This formula is just second to none. It's insanely comfortable, lives up to it's long wear claims every single time, and looks amazing on the lips. I will have every shade one day. Oh yes, I will.

Mirenesse Secret Weapon Supreme 24Hr Mascara* {Review}
I've been having really good luck with mascara recently, I must say, and I definitely found this one to be a big winner. It's super black and gives me nice volume without clumping. It also HUGELY lives up to its long wear claim and I've had this on through long naps without any smudging or flaking. Also, how pretty is this packaging!

Burt's Bees Coconut & Pear Moisturizing Lip Balm
This was actually a part of a gift from one of my best friends and I fell a little bit in love with it. It's like a pina colada on my lips, gives good hydration, and really clings. I'm actually a huge fan of the original minty Burt's Bees lip balm, but this one has overtaken it in my favorites.

NAILS

Sinful Colors Stoned Crystal Shimmer Polishes
I'm told that these weren't available in Canada when the originally launched, but I was lucky enough to pick them up at a local discount place - and they are amazing. All of the shades are gorgeous and apply really nicely, but these three really take first place for me. Namaste The Night is a deep grape, Just Deserts is a pale nude with neutral undertones, and Desert Reign is a mid-toned mauve. I'm in love!

Sinful Colors Hypnotic Transforming Topcoats {Review
Sinful Colors had a really good month for me. I'm pretty much in full obsession mode with these Hypnotic Transforming Topcoats, which I use to make decals that give the look of fluid art on the nails. Seriously, check out the review I linked for mani's I did using this polish - they're amazing. And get 'em before they're gone!

essence The Gel Nail Polish Top Coat
Why didn't anyone tell me how good this top coat is sooner? It's really thick and dries incredibly quickly, but I haven't had any issue with it shrinking, and it gives a gorgeous, high shine look to the nails and definitely helps keep my mani from chipping. Two thumbs way up!

So there you go... A pretty epic list of favorites this month, but every single one earned its spot here. If you've tried any of these products, I'd love to hear about your experiences in the comments, or just let me know what you've been loving recently!

Thanks for reading!
