MANI MONDAY: Green Flakie St. Patricks Day Nails

by - March 09, 2020

I feel like I'm probably in the minority, but I think green nail polishes and nail art looks are probably my personal favorite. Seriously, I can't get enough, so this month's #CBBxManiMonday Blue & Green theme is right in my wheelhouse. Another favorite of mine? Special occasion themed nails. I'll happily take pretty much any holiday or special occasion and splash it all over my nails. So, with those two things in mind - of course I was super excited to do some St Patricks Day nails. In fact, two of my absolute favorite mani's of last year were St Patty's themed (you can check them out here and here) so I was really excited to get into it this year.

I started with two coats of Cadillacquer Summer Rain*, which is a sort of soft blue shade that's packed with green ultra chrome chameleon flakes and, of course, a whole bunch of holo - it's seriously a super stunning shade and really versatile. For a while, I've been wanting to add a matching flakie gradient over this shade, so I used the Beauty Big Bang Chameleon Flakes in shade 06, which I think is a pretty solid match to what's in the polish, and applied them to just the very tips of the nails.

For the stamping, I used the Beauty Big Bang XL-067 Stamping Plate and ultimately chose three images from the plate to apply to the nails. I started by applying each image using gold stamping polish and then I went in and layered the same images using Dimension Nails Amazonian Manatee*. Ultimately, I think this definitely needed to be layered to really get that punch to the images and I think the gold and green pairing ended up really working with the base polish.

As usual, once my design was completely, I finished with a generous coat of Seche Vive Quick Dry Top Coat and voila!

I'm actually really, really happy with how this mani turned out - and I actually think I might try it again and skip the stamping to really get all that amazing flakie goodness from the base polish and the gradient front and centre. If you're interested in trying out Cadillacquer Summer Rain* or Dimension Nails Amazonian Manatee* (one of my favorite green polishes ever) they're both available from NailStuff.ca and you can use my affiliate code TRYSH for 10% off your order!
