MANI MONDAY: Pastel Skittle Smoosh with Geometric Stamping
Happy Monday! For this week's Pastel themed #CBBxManiMonday, I pretty much went in the same direction I did with last week's Cloudy Pastel Smoosh Nails, but turned it on its head a little bit. My initial plan was to keep it simple, matte down the base smoosh for a bit of a Cadbury Mini Eggs kind of a look for Easter... but once it was on my nails, I kept staring at them just feeling like they needed a little something else. Ultimately, I ended up deciding that they needed some grounding with really bold black and white stamping and I ended up really loving the look.

For each nail, I started with one coat of what was going to be the base colour of the smoosh. OPI's Verde Nice To Meet You* (green) along with Color Club's Totally Worth It (pink), Can You Not? (purple) and Take A Chill Pill (blue). For the smoosh, I wanted to add a soft, almost white shade to give that marbled look without losing the colour, so I went with OPI's Hue Is The Artist? paired with all of the shades. I also wanted to add a speckle to the look, so I grabbed ILNP's Luna, which is a multichrome flakie top coat. I added dots of the three polishes I was using for each nail and... just smooshed 'em. Simple as that.
Once I had decided that I wanted to add graphic black and white stamping, I grabbed for black and white stamping polishes from BornPrettyStore as well as two stamping plates from Nicole Diary. I knew that I wanted each nail to be different, but I also wanted to have cohesive look to the mani. I used various lines across the nail before going in with circles and dots, just kind of adding until the mani felt balanced and right.
To finish, I applied a generous coat of Seche Vive Quick Dry Top Coat and voila!

While this is definitely not what I had in mind when I sat down to do this mani, I love that I could really look at the base and get a good idea of what it needed. Sometimes I feel like really graphic stamping in black and white can actually add more impact to what it's on top of rather than taking away from it, and I feel like that's the case with this mani. Also, I have to say, I really love this tonal smoosh technique with the flakies and I'm thrilled that I sort of stumbled into it.
