REVIEW: belif Aqua Bomb Jelly Cleanser

by - July 23, 2020

I suspect that I might be the only weirdo I know who gets really, really excited about cleanser. They may be the most boring part of a skin care routine for some people, but (as I've said about a million times before) I think that a good cleansing routine can completely change the state of your skin - and it has for mine. That passion about cleansing combined with my love of the belif True Creams (yes, both of them) made getting the chance to try out the belif Aqua Bomb Jelly Cleanser* a genuinely exciting experience. Seriously, I couldn't wait to try it out and I had very, very heightened expectations for this product.

About:
Cleanse with a burst of hydration. For dryness, dullness and uneven texture.
Jelly-to-foam cleanser with the same explosive burst of hydration as True Cream Aqua Bomb. Amino acids and glycerin-based cleansing agents gently remove makeup without stripping skin of moisture. 97% of women felt it was gentle while cleansing. For anyone who loves a hydrating cleanser. It's great for all skin types - normal, combo and oily.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I love when cleansing is a sensory experience, so as much as I love my fragrance free cleansers for how gentle they are on my skin, I'll always have a special place for a cleanser that smells good. All of that to say, this cleanser smells GORGEOUS. It's a really fresh citrus scent that feels like a really solid balance of lemon and lime. The bright freshness of it really is making it a favorite to reach for in the morning, solidly for that sensory experience.

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from a jelly cleanser and I sort of assumed that it was just going to be a gel cleanser like all of the other gel cleansers in my collection, but I think the texture of it really does feel more jelly than gel. It has a rich bounciness to it that's hard to describe. Initially, it's a very, very viscous gel and when you add water and foam it up, there's a dense richness and a bounciness to it that's really unique to anything else I've tried. It's a really lovely cleansing experience and I love the way it feels on the skin.

If you look back at older cleanser/cleansing posts on this blog, you'll know that I avoided foaming cleansers for a very long time, but in the past year or two have changed my stance. Let's be clear, it's not that I suddenly love foaming cleansers and want all my cleansers to foam, it's that I now feel like there are two categories of foaming cleansers - the harsh and stripping ones that I avoid like the plague, and the more nourishing ones that give a thorough cleanse without leaving your skin feeling parched. This cleanser definitely sits in that latter category for me.

I find that this cleanser strikes a really beautiful balance for me. It really thoroughly cleanses the skin of the things that I want to remove, but doesn't strip my skin. It's said to contain the same hydrating properties of the belif True Cream Aqua Bomb and, while I'm not entirely sure what they mean by that, based on the way my skin feels after I rinse this, I believe it. I don't feel like there's product left behind on my skin like with some hydrating cleansers, it's not that my skin feels like I've added moisture, it's a genuinely hydrated but still clean and fresh kind of a feeling. I don't know how they do it, but I think this formula is an absolute knock out.

As someone who has really enjoyed belif products and someone who really, really gets weirdly excited about cleansers (that's a whole other thing) I have to say that I had really, really high hopes for this cleanser and I still think that it exceeded them. I've been testing this for several weeks now and I just absolutely love it, my skin absolutely loves it, and I think it's a genuinely really, really good cleanser. I know that a lot of people sort of think cleanser is whatever, it's just the step that cleans your skin and gets it ready for "actual" skin care, but I've definitely learned that the cleansing step is really the foundation of keeping my skin looking and feeling healthy, so I think it's a step worth really thinking about.

Anyway, yes. This is a really, really good cleanser and I recommend it. The belif Aqua Bomb Jelly Cleanser* is available as part of the AvonxTHEFACESHOP Collaboration at Avon.ca (love this collab!) as well as from Nature Collection and Sephora!
