HALLOWEEN NAIL ART: Bold Neon Angled Gradient Bat Nails

by - October 07, 2021

Every year when I'm doing Halloween nail art, my inner 80s/90s kid just jumps up and down and screams for some Lisa Frank vibes and, really, who am I to turn down my inner child? Also, I just love a neon background with some really stark black stamping. In the end, this design is a lot and packs some serious punch, but also... it's really a super simple and straight forward design that I think just about anyone could recreate!

The gradient for this design was inspired by this tropical mani that I did over the summer, but I wanted to go in a more playful, sort of girly direction so I went with bold and rich pink and purple neon polishes that pack some serious punch and work in the context of the Halloween theme. I started by applying one coat of the pink polish to all of my nails as a base and let that dry down completely before going in with my gradient.

When doing this diagonal gradient design, I just divide the sponge in half corner to corner, applying one shade to one half and one to the other. This way I generally get even placement. For this mani, I decided to alternate the direction of the sponging so that the overall look is almost like a diagonal stripes pattern over my entire hand.

For the stamping, I kept it really simple and used this image from the Whats Up Nails B023 Creepin' It Real Stamping Plate for all of my nails along with black stamping polish. With this much happening, I find it's really best to keep it simple, though I did switch the direction of the placement of the image on opposite sides of my hand.

Once I was happy with the design, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a glossy top coat to really pop the neon and bring out that contrast with the black stamping. And voila!
