HALLOWEEN NAIL ART: Oozing Toxic Slime Skeleton Nails
The reason that I try not to do a lot of nail art designs that are just base polish and then straight up stamping is that sometimes it can feel a little bit boring and like maybe people won't really be interested. That said, one of my favorite things about stamping and specifically about the best kinds of stamping plates is really being able to build a cohesive, interesting design using just a base polish (in this case a really, really gorgeous indie that I got in a destash...) and some straightforward stamping. With great plates and a little bit of creativity, I feel like simple stamping can create some great mani's!

I picked up Different Dimension's 500 Festival from a friend when she was destashing and even when I picked it up months ago I knew that it was going to feature in Halloween nail art. It's this really intense highlighter green jelly with flakes and holo and and and oh my. It's packed with a lot of interest, but because none of it is particularly high contrast it doesn't feel like too much - which, let's be honest, is pretty impressive with this type of shade. This was from a collab a couple of years ago and isn't available anymore, but if you see it in a destash I do think it's worth a go. Otherwise, you could pretty much get this vibe with any neon or acid green base polish.
For this mani, I applied two coats of 500 Festival to all of my nails.
I often try to stick to single plates when I'm doing nail art, specifically because I know people will sometimes want to recreate the designs and it's just easier if you're working from one plate, but for this one the design in my head called for two of my favorite Halloween plates from Whats Up Nails. Essentially the inspiration for the design was... creepy skeletons dissolved in a vat of oozing toxic slime, because... I dunno, that's scary? Anyway, I wanted to get the ooze vibe on the outer nails (pinkie, first, and thumb) and then use two different skeleton/skull images for a cohesive but unique pair on the middle two nails. I used black stamping polish for all of them and did my best to keep everything really crisp so that it didn't start to feel tortured.
Once I was happy with the design, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a glossy top coat to really pop the overall design. And voila!

As I said, the inspiration for this mani was a sort of skeleton dissolved in acid type of a vibe and I think it ended up hitting pretty well. And, I mean, I feel like this sort of highlighter color combined with a really rich black just kind of hits the spot on a bright but spooky kind of Halloween vibe, so it all worked out!
