HALLOWEEN NAIL ART: Purple & Black Spooky Chevron French Mani
Clearly as I've been going through this Halloween nail design process, I've spent a lot of time thinking about Halloween colours and my favorite ways to pair them. Obviously black goes with everything - just ask the state of my stamping polishes that I've been reaching for pretty much constantly - but one of my personal favorite pairings is this sort of witchy Halloween purple with black. When I sat down to use the stamping image that I used for this plate I just knew that I wanted to employ that pairing but I wasn't immediately certain HOW I wanted to do it.

I feel like I'm saying this a lot throughout this process, but as soon as I got Glisten & Glow's Rainbow Bridge in my July PPU order, I knew that it was going to get reached for to create Halloween nail art. I did think it was going to end up being more of a star than an accent, which I think is what it ended up being here, but it's just stunning and I know it's going to be a polish that I reach for a lot in the future. It also is really what inspired the rest of the color scheme. I started with this polish and and really built out from there in my planning.
Anyway, for this mani, I started by applying two coats of Rainbow Bridge to all of my nails and letting it dry down.
This is definitely one of those times when I had a much simpler idea going in than what I ended up doing for the finished product, but I definitely think it's a step up from what I was planning. Initially, I was just going to layer the solid chevron image with the sort of lacy spiderweb and bats image that fits directly over it so I started by applying the solid image in a pale grey that I thought would look great with the black and purple pairing. It was at this point that I realized that I wanted to do more, so I grabbed for a purple créme stamping polish that felt really similar in tone to the base polish and applied the same image directly underneath the grey one. Next, I went in with the bats image and applied that directly on top of the grey. Finally, at this point I felt like I needed just a little bit more, so I went in again with that solid chevron image and applied it in black right under the purple at the tip of the nail.
Once I was finally happy with the stamping design, I sealed it in with a layer of nail art top coat and then finished with a generous layer of quick dry top coat. And voila!

I really, really love the final product that came out, even though it ended up being improvised as I went. For me, changing the plan on the fly can be a little bit hit and miss, but in this case I feel like it's a hit. Also, I really continue to be super impressed with the KADS stamping plates that I've tried so far. They have really unique designs and they're really perfectly etched to get a solid pickup with a lot of different stamping polishes. Definitely look for more manis using KADS plates in the future!
