BEAUTY REVIEW: JUNO & Co. Clean 10 Cleansing Balm
When it comes to skin care, one of the most important and beneficial lessons that I've learned is the importance of a good cleansing routine that works with your skin. For me, I've found that a double cleanse with an oil based cleanser to first remove makeup, sunscreen and buildup followed by a creamy or foaming cleanser to effectively cleanse the skin itself works the best to keep my skin healthy, balanced, and generally behaving. Recently, I've had the opportunity to test out the Juno & Co Clean 10 Cleansing Balm* and I'm super excited to share my review of it with you guys!

About:
Clean 10 Cleansing Balm is a unique oil-based cleanser curated for all skin types to effortlessly dissolve makeup. It's developed to remove even waterproof makeup and perform multiple tasks. Out cleansing balm only has 10 ingredients but heavily depends on our star ingredient, Japanese Barley Magic. This particular ingredient is a source of vitamins and antioxidants in order to help regulate skin's melanin production. This includes brightening the skin's complexion and reducing dark spots. The implemented technology deeply cleanses skin without stripping natural oils.
Before trying out this product, I was actually unfamiliar with Juno & Co. but upon looking into the company, I was very much drawn to their ethos. They are specifically focused on inclusion, minimalism, and sustainability while rejecting the annoying marketing of impossible beauty standards and promises of miracles. Their focus is on simple, effective formulas that will be gentle on your skin and kind to the environment. I really love that we're seeing more and more brands on the market that aren't trying to lure you with insane promises of perfection, but instead are leaning into simple, effective products produced and sold sustainably. I think this is definitely the future of the beauty industry - or at least it should be.
But how did the product perform?
One thing I've learned through testing a whole lot of different cleansing balms is really the importance of texture. Personally, I prefer a thinner texture that melts down quite easily into the skin because I feel like it finds that sweet spot where it both works really effectively at removing makeup and sunscreen while also rinsing quite easily from the skin. This cleansing balm definitely has that lighter weight, really smooth and silky texture that melts down quickly in my hands and spreads smoothly and evenly over the skin while still effectively breaking up the product on the skin, including mascara.
In the past I have very, very much avoided emulsifying my oil cleansers because I very much hated the feeling of it, but I always like to test to see how it emulsifies, so of course I had to do that with this one. I'm definitely beginning to think that something has changed in the formulation of these types of cleansers because when I emulsified this one I found that I didn't mind the feeling of it at all. A little bit of water quickly and easily turns this into a lightweight, gently milky texture that rinses away quite easily without needing to use a washcloth and I have personally found that there's not a significant difference in performance whether I remove it with water or with a washcloth.
I have to say, I think this is a really, really impressive cleansing balm and I had a ton of success with it. It does a really good job on that first cleanse, getting in there and removing my makeup and sunscreen beautifully to prepare for my second skin cleanse. It also smells really, really good with a light, fresh orange scent that isn't overpowering but really does make for a lovely experience while you're cleansing. It rinses clean and doesn't leave behind a film on the skin, which is important to me since I want that second cleansing step to really be a skin cleanser rather than just removing my first cleanser, if you know what I mean.
The company was kind enough to send along their Cleansing Cookie as well and I have to say - I am COMPLETELY obsessed with it. While I did try it with the cleansing oil, that really wasn't what made me fall in love with it. It's actually during my second cleanse, with a cream or foaming cleanser, that I really, really love this and think that it shines, at least for my taste.
The way that I use it is that I get it saturated with water and then give it a good squeeze so that it's damp all the way through but not dripping and then I apply a little bit of my cleanser to the pad. I then use the pad to work the cleanser into my skin and I find that it gives me a really, really thorough and impressive cleanse. Once I finish washing my face, I use a little bit of soap and give this a good cleaning with my hands, making sure to rinse and squeeze it a few times, and then I hang it on a hook to dry. I seriously absolutely love this as part of my cleansing routine, it's just gorgeous.
I have to say, my skin care routine has definitely gotten a lot simpler over the past couple of years and I've been keeping it fairly minimalist, but testing out this product has gotten me excited to see what else I've been missing as my focus has shifted a little. My skin absolutely loves this cleanser and I'm really curious to try more from the brand - especially their cold pressed oils and clay mask, which all look absolutely lush and very affordable!
