Happy Canada Day, everyone! 

I took last year off from Canada Day nails because the reality of the brutal and horrifying history of residential schools in this country had really come to light in an absolutely devastating way and I just couldn't bring myself to celebrate. I just want to make clear, this year I'm not in any way ignoring that reality, but my perspective is that it's only with all of the truth being out there that we can move forward and I do think that the good things about this country are worth fighting for and there is reconciliation and a bright future for everyone that is possible if we're all willing to do the work and listen to the voices that have for so long been silenced. I still believe this is a beautiful place to call home, not perfect but beautiful, and it's worth celebrating what it could be so that hopefully that becomes a reality. I couldn't do Canada Day nails without acknowledging that.

Happy Canada Day!! Honestly, I kind of struggled with this week's mani - both in deciding what to do on my nails to celebrate this Canada Day as well as the actual execution of the nail art. Still, I'm pretty happy with the overall result - especially in person as opposed to really zoomed in photos that show every wobble and smudge. I'm also trying to get this written quite quickly so that I can get out and enjoy the day at a local street festival, so please forgive me if this feels rushed!

Hey guys! As usual, as the summer gets into full swing with its first long weekend, this one has been incredibly busy with hardly any time to sit down and take a breath, much less do my nails. Still, I had to get a quick, easy mani in to celebrate Canada day with some classic red and white with maple leaf stamping - and some glitter for good measure (and quick, easy impact!)
