Since I've been traveling and also pretty lazy just in general the last couple of weeks, I figured that in place of doing What I Wore This Week, I would show you what I packed in my travel bag for my week away. For me, it's pretty hard to pare down to just the basics and I tend to pack way too much of everything whenever I head out of town - but I tried really hard this time to choose a small selection of basics to get me through the trip. This post will just contain the makeup that I took with me, but I also raided my collection of deluxe samples from various subscription services for skin, hair, and body care so check back at my monthly empties at the end of this month to see what I took with me and how I felt about it.

With Target exiting Canada soon, after a too brief stint here with, apparently, disasterous results, I know that there are more than a few people in the beauty community who are mourning the loss of certain Target exclusive products in Canada. Sure, most of the products in the Health & Beauty section are available other places, but there are definitely those few brands that are only carried by Target that we'll be unable to get without a trip over the boarder soon. Since liquidation is set to start soon, I figured it would be a good idea to make a post highlighting my favorite Target Exclusive products so that if you want to get them before they're gone or you see them drastically reduced, you can pick them up for yourself.

Like so many other people, Fall is probably my favorite season - even though on the prairies it usually means that it'll only be a few weeks until there is snow on the ground and temperatures that make getting out of bed in the morning a hell of a lot less appealing. In the beginning of the season, the colder temperatures feel like a fair trade for the makeup and fashion changes that we all get to put into effect. Sure, it's a little sad to pack away all the flip flops, but getting to trade them out for a favorite pair of boots is a little bit of excitement.

When it comes to summertime activities, there are few things as fun to me as a really good music festival. This year, I'm really excited to be spending one day (sadly not the entire weekend) at the Winnipeg Folk Festival to see one of my absolute, all time favorite artists - Ani Difranco. So when I was thinking about what I was going to need in my bag, I decided that this would be a hell of a subject for a What's In My Bag post.

Overall, I tend to bring too many things wherever I go - whether it be on a vacation, a quick overnight, or just to work. I am a notorious overpacker and I get the feeling I'm not alone in this tendency. Fortunately, by this point I've learned one very important lesson when you're going to be walking around in a field all day with nowhere to stash your stuff (unless you convince your boyfriend to carry a backpack with a blanket and extra water, which I'm hoping to work on before we go!) you need to streamline for ease and comfort with only necessities.
