As a proud Canadian girl, I love supporting Canadian brands.  Unfortunately, they can sometimes be hard to find amongst all of the giants that we consistently see in stores unless you're willing to do a lot of research. When I got the opportunity to try SST Cosmetics, which is based out of Saskatchewan (PRAIRIE LOVE!) and has a focus on high quality ingredients without harsh chemicals, I was definitely excited to see how it would perform. What I've got to show you today are items from SST's SS15 Quintessential Collection, so keep reading for a closer look at the collection!

High Shine Lip Polish in Vital* - C$23.94
"This no-stick gloss is sure to impress with high shine moisture and lasting colour. Infused with Jojoba seed oil, Vitamin E, and Sweet Almond Oil for firmer lips, this creamy plum shade pairs perfectly with the season’s hottest hues."

As soon as I pulled this out of the box, I had to put it on my lips. Normally I wait to take pictures before trying out products, but I couldn't help myself. And I love it. First of all, this natural mauve shade gives a really natural, healthy look to the lips. It's definitely a more sheer, creamy gloss but it just looks beautiful and lush on the lips. I also have to mention that I didn't find this gloss to be sticky at all, which is a great thing considering how well it wears.

Hydrating Lipstick in Stripped* - C$23.94
"The search for the perfect shade of nude is over. Keep lips hydrated this summer with this Grape Seed Oil, Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E infused lipstick.  With great coverage and staying power, transitioning from day to night has never been easier. The soft pink hue with a touch of shimmer makes it a perfect nude for all skin tones this summer."

I love that they included really nourishing ingredients in their lipstick formula, because I feel like a lot of companies forget what a toll wearing lipstick every day can take on your lips if it doesn't have good ingredients in it. This lipstick is also very, very pigmented and really packs a lot of punch on the lips. Unfortunately, for me, this just isn't a shade that I'm going to get a lot of use of. As you probably know, I'm not much of a sparkle girl and this has a lot of frost in it. The sparkle in the formula also leaves a gritty texture on the lips that I'm a little sensitive to since I rub my lips together constantly. However, I'm very eager to try some other shades in this line because the pigmentation is great and I love the inclusion of really great ingredients!

Silky Eyeshadow in Composed* - C$21.54
"The Silky Eyeshadow blends exceptionally well and is loaded with pigment—not additives.  An everyday colour that can be used wet or dry, it is the perfect contour shade to compliment your usual combos and shadows."

I feel like this shade is so perfectly me that it might as well be named after me, since these deep, plummy shades are some of my favorites. The pigmentation on this shadow is really good and I find it incredibly easy to work with and blend. It can be sheered out or built up for varying levels of intensity and smokiness, all while maintaining it's plum tone and never skewing too grey, which is a big plus for me.

Silky Eyeshadow Combo in Mild* - C$25.95
"These combo shadows gives you the best of both worlds, a matte or a shimmer in soft highlighting shades. Simple ingredients, and lasting, impactful results."

This is a neat little duo because the two shadows are in the same pan and are very similar in shade and tone, but with different finishes. The smaller side is a beautiful pale champagne gold with a soft, frosty finish. The larger side is, I would say, a creamy vanilla shade with a slightly satin matte finish. Both of these shadows perform beautifully, with lovely pigmentation and blendability.

Overall, I'm really impressed with both of the eyeshadows from this collection - especially when worn together for one cohesive eye look. The quality is really good on them and I feel like they wear really nicely throughout the day.

As you can see from the swatches, this is a very cohesive collection as far as tone and the overall look of these products when used together, but they are also very effective on their own. This collection also features a second eyeshadow combo in the shade Meek, which is a more rosy brown toned duo of shadows. For me, the shadows and the gloss are definitely worth trying and I'm also looking forward to trying a lipstick from this brand in a créme finish!

SST Cosmetics are available online via their Website as well as in select salons in Western Canada.
