HAUL: My FIRST Colourpop Haul! November 2015

by - November 11, 2015

So clearly I, like pretty much everyone else who is even the most casual observer of the online beauty community, have been seeing all kinds of Colourpop videos and blog posts for well over a year now. Between all of the talk about the unique formula and amazing pigmentation, I was more than a little intrigued. I've considered making ordered a few times before now, but I was halted by the high cost of shipping to Canada. Recently, there was a 20% off sale on their Fall collection and I had a little bit of money that I wanted to throw at some new makeup products, so I just decided to go for it. Since it was my first order and I signed up for their newsletter, I got a code for $5 off my purchase as well and that combined with the code pretty much ate the shipping for me!

Anyway, if you're interested in taking a look at what I picked up, keep reading!

I decided to go with 5 of the Super Shock shadows in a variety of finishes for this haul, because I wanted to get a feel for the different finishes and see what would be my personal favorite. Each shadow comes packaged in an individual pot (which is important so that the shadows don't dry out) and in their own separate box. I've heard about some people having issues with their shadows smashing in transit, but mine were very securely packed in a pretty thick layer of foam and they all arrive in good condition.

Super Shock Eyeshadows:
Supermodel - Soft golden ivory - Pearlized
3 - Cool-toned starlit bronze with a flash of silvery and multi-coloured glitter - Metallic
Stereo - Blackened burgundy with copper and pink violet duo chrome glitter - Metallic
Party Time - Dusty mauve grey - Matte
Central Perk - Dirty maroon - Matte

I decided to reign myself in when it came to the cheek products, because I am a junkie and once I got going I could just see myself going mad with power and getting one of everything. Instead, I stuck with the two products that to me seemed like the ones I'd get the most use out of.

Super Shock Blush:
Birthday Suit - Neutral pink - Satin

Super Shock Highlighter:
Smokin' Whistles - Cool toned pink champagne with silver highlights - Pearlized

This was another place that I had to reign myself in, because I've been wanting to try the Lippie Stix for ages. There's such an amazing selection of shades and finishes in the Lippie Stix collection that I could have gone wild, but instead I decided to go with what I normally do when I'm trying out a new line of lipsticks: I picked up a nude, a mauve, and a deeper shade. I feel like these are all colours that I will consistently wear and they also give a good all around baseline for figuring out if I like a line or not. Also, no one ever will be surprised that I went with all matte finishes since they're my favorite, but they're also the finish I've heard the most positive things about.

Lippie Stix:
Oh Snap - Pale dirty nude pink - Matte
Lumiere - Dusty mauve pink by Kathleen Lights - Matte
Poison - Deep brown red - Matte

Of course, like every Colourpop order, they included product cards (which you can see in the product pictures above) that tell you a little bit about the products and give you tips and tricks to using them. I think that's a really great addition, especially since the formula is definitely different than pretty much any other product on the market. I like to have information from the company about the products I'm getting included in my orders, so I think more companies should do this type of thing.

And of course, even though it's not really all that personal at all, every order comes with a little note card with a little phrase on it and the customer's name filled in. Considering my nerdery, I feel like mine was well chosen....

Harry Potter references are always a win from where I'm standing.

Anyway, that does it for my first Colourpop haul. The next order of business is to actually start using the products so that I can put together reviews, so keep a look out for those coming in the near future. I seriously can't wait to try out these products and see if they live up to the hype. Admittedly, I have pretty high expectations of their quality, so I'm going to be extra critical.

Thanks for reading and come back soon!
