I feel like, after nearly five years of blogging and a heck of a lot longer being a member of the online beauty community as a reader/viewer/follower, I've started to be able to see trends coming. I think it's pretty much impossible to not notice the patterns and the peaks and valleys that inevitably happen in this community. One thing that is really starting to bum me out, particularly with eyeshadow palettes, is the tendency for most companies to follow leader so that everything feels like more of the same. This is honestly one of the biggest reasons that I have so much respect for Colourpop. Rather than following leader, I feel like they've been making their own way ever since the brand's inception, and that's what has made them so successful. The reason I bring all of this up is because that's what really sticks out to me most about the Colourpop Good Sport Pressed Powder Palette, which I'm super excited to review for you guys!

When it was announced that Colourpop was going to be carried at Sephora, I was personally really curious about how that was going to work. As a Canadian, it can be a bit of a pain to get Colourpop products since the exchange rate is pretty steep at the moment and oftentimes we have to pay duties once the products arrive. That being said, I'm actually a huge fan of the brand and I think their formulas are overwhelmingly impressive, particularly for the price point, so I was hopeful about the Sephora launch. As we all know now, the launch has been pretty sparse, but they did release a couple of palettes that are exclusive to Sephora and as soon as I saw the Colourpop Semi-Precious Eyeshadow Palette, I absolutely had to have it so I ordered it on launch day at about 7am.

If you saw my recent Colourpop Haul, you'll know that I just couldn't resist picking up some of their new pressed powder eyeshadows. I'm actually a pretty big fan of Colourpop's products in general and I think that if the Canadian dollar was better, I would probably buy a lot more, but these days I really have to decide what I really want and only order those things. Anyway, I wanted to review the four shadows that I got and let you know what I think overall.

As much as I'd like to, I don't order from Colourpop often - but I do suspect that now that they offer free International shipping at orders over $50USD I will likely be ordering a little bit more often. My experience with Colourpop has actually been overwhelmingly positive, generally, and I still reach for a few of their Super Shock shadows really, really consistently. So of course, when I had the opportunity to ship orders to a family friend's US condo and have my dad bring them back for me after a holiday, I had to take the opportunity to pick up a few things. Right? I had no choice in the matter!

This is my favorite kind of fall look generally. I like to take warm matte brown, mauve, and burgundy shades all over the lid and blended up into the crease for a really soft, smoky look that isn't too deep. I keep the cheeks warm and natural and add a bold berry or wine shade to the lips to really pop the whole look. For this look I also skipped liner, because I felt like it kept everything a little softer but still impactful. The only part of this look that's not matte is a little bit of subtle highlight on the tops of the cheekbones and the cupids bow, nothing too intense but enough to bring a little light to the face.

When I was planning my trip to Florida, one of the things that I wanted to do was make a Colourpop order and have it shipped to one of my friends out there. The cost of shipping Colourpop products to Canada is just so astronomical that most of the time I can't justify ordering even when there are products that I really want. I'd been wanting to try out the Ultra Matte and Ultra Satin lips for ages now, but again just couldn't the expense of the shipping. Anyway, it wasn't a huge haul but I did get some great things!

I can't even tell you guys how excited I was for this month's Ipsy Glambag to arrive. I was pretty much stalking my Canada Post app watching for it to be delivered. I used to have my Ipsy bag delivered to my office, but after last month's debacle I figured it was better to just have it shipped to my house because I know I can trust my mailman there. Luckily, the regular mailman at my office will be back next week so I will be switching my shipping address back so I don't have to wait until the end of the day (and risk my products being frozen when I get home if it gets delivered too early.) ANYWAY, enough rambling out of me! This month's selection of products was pretty exciting to me - and I also finally spent all of the Ipsy Points that I'd been saving up to get some goodies from Colourpop.

Lip products are probably my favorites to buy, I have to admit. In 2015, I shifted into a pretty intense love affair with matte liquid lipsticks - as did everyone else, it seems - and completely stopped trying to love lip gloss, which will just never be my thing.  I feel like I try more lip products than any other makeup product and I genuinely get excited whenever there are new lip products on the market. Four out of my five 2015 lip favorites are new discoveries this year, and one is basically a forever favorite that will never die.

Here we go with Part 2 of the most epic Favorites series I've ever done. This was actually one of the hardest as well, because I wanted to have a good selection of different products and it was hard to narrow down. I love eye makeup. It was absolutely the first type of product that I started collecting and I had to admit that my collection is kind of ridiculous. Shadows alone take up 2 drawers. But I digress. I decided to try and get as wide a selection of types of products as I could for this post and still keep it to a Top 5, so I hope you enjoy!

It's time for my last Colourpop review from my first ever order! After seeing swatch videos on Youtube of all of the blushes and highlighters, I knew that I needed to try some out. I mean, I am pretty much a blush addict after all. I decided to reign myself in at one of each, because I could have gone a little bit mad with power and bought several, but this first haul was really about figuring out how I feel about each of the products and formulas. I picked up the most wearable shades for my skintone, I'd say, and I think I did pretty well. One thing that I would say is to really look at the swatches for these types of items before ordering, because they can look very different in the pan than on your skin. Anyway....

Welcome back for my second Colourpop review this week here on the blog. Yesterday, I reviewed the Lippie Stix, and today I've got my review for what is certainly the most popular product that Colourpop does - Their Super Shock Shadows. I picked up 5 shades in a variety of finishes to try and get a feel for how each performs. I picked 3 from the fall collection (which was on sale when I made my order) and 2 from the permanent line. I have to tell you that I'm a little bit surprised at how I feel about these, because they actually tend to be at odds with how I've heard other people feel about them, but we'll get more into that in the review!

I'd heard amazing things about the Lippie Stix formula, so I was pretty eager to get these on my lips. I chose 3 shades - Oh Snap!, Lumiere, and Poison. As per usual when I'm trying out a new lip product formula, I like to try a nude, a mauve, and a red because I feel like it gives me a good overall feel of what's going on with the products.
