2015 BEAUTY FAVORITES: Eye Products

by - January 05, 2016

Here we go with Part 2 of the most epic Favorites series I've ever done. This was actually one of the hardest as well, because I wanted to have a good selection of different products and it was hard to narrow down. I love eye makeup. It was absolutely the first type of product that I started collecting and I had to admit that my collection is kind of ridiculous. Shadows alone take up 2 drawers. But I digress. I decided to try and get as wide a selection of types of products as I could for this post and still keep it to a Top 5, so I hope you enjoy!

If you want to take a closer look at my favorite eye products, keep reading!

1. Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer
I have to admit that it's only been in the past year or so that I've gotten really diligent about eyeshadow primer, and I think it's really because I finally tried some that really made a difference. This has absolutely been my favorite though, and made trying the Smashbox Try It Kit absolutely worth it. This holds my shadows like glue, I swear, and they end up looking as good at the end of the day as they did when I first applied them. A little goes a long way, which means I'm still working my way through this deluxe size, so you get some serious bang for your buck.

2. Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Central Perk
This has been my favorite single shadow this year by a very, very wide margin. I'm pretty much obsessed with this shadow and I think that if they still have it the next time I do a Colourpop order (which might be very soon, fingers crossed) I will get a backup. This shade looks sort of bland in the pan, just a deep blackened burgundy, but when you put it on the eyes this amazing red comes out of it and it just looks stunning. This might not be a shade for everyone, but I think it's actually a great way to dip your toe into colour without it being too overwhelming because it's almost like a vibrant neutral, if that makes any sense.

3. Freedom Makeup London Pro 12 Audacious 3
Can we just take a moment? I'm pretty much in love with this palette. Not only are these rosy shades completely in my wheelhouse, but the texture and pigmentation on these shadows absolutely belies their affordable price. The mattes are creamy and silky and blend like a dream, the shimmers pack a lot of punch. Seriously, if you try only one thing from Freedom Makeup London, make it this palette - or one of the other Pro 12 palettes, because I am so beyond impressed and I find myself reaching for this more than most of my other palettes.
Honorable Mention: Cargo Vintage Escapes Palette - which continues to be one of my favorites, but is definitely all kinds of discontinued now.

4. L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara - Waterproof
I mentioned this in my Knee Jerk Favorites, so if you read that you already know that this is guttingly discontinued. Still, I have to be entirely honest here and no other mascara lived up to this Holy Grail status favorite this year. It's just amazing. It gives me exactly the fluttery, dark, full lashes that I absolutely love and I'm likely going to hoard my collection of back ups as long as humanly possible because this is just the best thing to ever touch my lashes. I was going to give an honorable mention... but I just can't think of anything I love this much.

5. NYX Micro Brow Pencil
So, I really only have one problem with this product and that's that only one store in Winnipeg carries it and it's literally been sold out every time I've gone there for the past 3 months. That said, I love this product and I haven't shelled out for the Anastasia Brow Wiz since I started using this. I think NYX has really been killing it with brow products for the last year and this is definitely the feather in their cap for me. It's got good staying power, a great range of shades, a spooly good enough that I saved the last one I used up just to use it for the spooly, and a fine tip that really gives a natural brow look.
Honorable Mention: Annabelle Skinny Brow Liner - this is much easier to get ahold of, since it is so widely available, and is also very, very good.

So there you have it. I had to include a couple of honorable mentions here, since it was particularly hard to narrow down this entire eye category. Like the Face Products post that I did yesterday, all of these products get my firm stamp of approval and I would recommend them to those who are looking for new products to try.

Thanks for reading and come back tomorrow for yet another edition of 2015 Favorites!
