REVIEW: Avon NutraEffects Active Seed Complex Creams
More and more, I'm finding myself loving the opportunity to try out different skin care formulas and really get a better feel for what's out there on the market. Recently, I was super excited to get the chance to try out two of the Avon Nutra Effects Night Creams with Active Seed Complex. I've heard a lot in the past couple of years about what a power house ingredient Chia Seeds are for nutrition, so I was really curious about how skin care products containing it would work out for me.

Okay, so here's what you need to know about the Avon Nutra Effects Active Seed Complex lineup! These products all contain Avon's Active Seed Complex, whose key ingredient is Chia Seed, which is right in Omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. There are four different ranges within this line. The Hydration products, with Chia Seed, is for normal to dry skin. The Radiance products, with Chia Seed + Bird of Paradise Seed, are for people with dull, uneven tone. The Ageless products, with Chia Seed _+ Pomegranate Seed, are to target early signs of aging. And the Balance products, with Chia Seed + Mattifying Powders, are intended for oily to combination skin types. Gang's all here, right? There's literally something for everyone in this line. Also, all of these products are suitable for sensitive skin, are hypoallergenic, and contain no parabens or dyes.

Obviously, since I'm in my early 30s and really starting to see the earlier signs of aging in my skin, this was the one that I was most excited to try. The texture of this cream is incredibly rich, which was pretty much exactly what I was tend to go for in an anti-aging night cream. It has a light fragrance that is very skin care to me, reminding me distinctly of something I might smelled on my grandma's vanity when I was little - in a nice skin care way, not an old lady way.
For me, I think this might be a little too rich for my skin on an every day basis. I did use this recently while I was sick with a really brutal cold and my skin was feeling really ragged and dehydrated and I found that it worked beautifully, so I think this is the kind of product that is perfect for me when I really need a hard punch of hydration because I've been sick or because the climate is just running my skin ragged. Ultimately, though, I think this cream is better suited to dry or very dry skin as well as mature skins, and I think I'll end up passing this one along to my mom because I know she'll love it. It's a lovely cream, just not quite right for my skin.
Avon Nutra Effects Active Seed Complex Radiance Night Cream*
For
dullness and uneven skin tone. Reduces the appearance of discolourations
in 2 weeks. Suitable for sensitive skin. Hypoallergenic, paraben-free,
dye-free.
One thing that I've really learned about my skin is that it reacts really well to products intended to brighten. I don't think it was ever something that I was aware of until I saw the results of using brightening products. For me, this wasn't the more exciting of these two products but it's actually the one that has worked best for my skin. While this is still a really rich, hydrating cream I find the texture to be somewhat lighter than the Ageless cream and I think it holds just the right amount of moisture for me on a regular basis. It also has a light scent that is similar, but not quite the same as the Ageless cream. This one reminds me of the scent of a very, very recognizable and much loved cream that shall go unnamed here.
Like I said above, this is the cream that has really worked perfectly for my skin type - normal leaning winter dry. It's rich and emollient, but doesn't feel too heavy on the skin, and gives just the right amount of hydration for me. When I use this at night, I wake up with skin that feels deeply hydrated but doesn't have any stickiness or oily residue left behind, and my skin looks really healthy.

Overall, I'm really impressed with these two creams from the new Avon Nutra Effects line and I really do think that there's something for everyone in this range. For me, the winner is definitely the Radiance Night Cream, because it works well with my skin type and gives me the kind of hydration I'm always looking for in the winter months. I suspect that both of these might be too heavy for me for daily use in the warmer months, but I am definitely interested in seeing how the Hydration and Balance lines would work when my skin shifts to being more combination.
The Avon Nutra Effects range is available as of the February 2017 campaign from your local Avon representative. See Avon.ca for more!
