(epic) MONTHLY EMPTIES: June 2016
I've gotta tell you guys... This month I really decided that I want to work on getting through a lot of products in my collection because I've been getting a little bit overwhelmed with how much stuff I have hanging around. As you've seen from the declutter posts that I've done so far, I've been cleaning out, but I've also been trying to use things up. So far so good, I think, since this month's empties is possibly the biggest I've ever done. I've got a little of everything in this empties post and I think most of them I've got solid thoughts on.
Keep reading to take a look at what I managed to use up this month!
SKINCARE
Shara Shara Gold Label Repescargo Cream
I got this in a Memebox ages ago and I fell a little bit in love with it when I was using it consistently, but then it got tucked aside in favor of new things to try and now there's just very little left and it's time to get rid of it. I would definitely use this again, though, because I do remember absolutely loving it.
Simple Cleansing Micellar Water
LOVE. I didn't know how I was going to feel about this micellar water, since I've been a long time Bioderma lover, but I think this holds up to it really well and I don't see any need to spend more when I know how good this is. I'm working through some other micellar waters in my collection at the moment, but this will be first on the repurchase list.
Paula's Choice RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer
I really enjoyed this moisturizer while I was using it and I do think that it performed the way it was supposed to. I don't think I'll repurchase it because there are other moisturizers that I prefer, but I think this is a really solid product.
Biossance The Revitalizer
I got this in a Glossybox a while back and, while I liked it and did find that it added a boost of hydration to my skin, I just didn't fall in love with it. It was good, but I don't think I'd repurchase.
Lipidol Cleansing Oil
I really liked this cleansing oil and I think it did a fantastic job of breaking up and removing my makeup. The only thing I don't like about this is the smell, which reminds me a little bit of rubber, so I'm not sure it's going to get a repurchase just because I'm really a smell person.
LUSH Dark Angels Scrub
LOVE. I think this is actually my favorite scrub I've ever used. It's fine so I don't find it to be too harsh on my skin, but it does a really good job of exfoliating my skin while the charcoal helps to keep my skin clear. This is a definite repurchase.
The Skin House Aloe Water Mist
Admittedly, I used this up ages ago and just never managed to get it into an empties post and toss it away. I LOVED this mist though. This was perfect for refreshing my skin throughout the day and the light, fresh scent was really soothing to my mind. Definitely would repurchase if this was easy to get my hands on.
Dermakey She's 4th 3D Perfectioner
I had really high hopes for this, but I really don't think it did anything for my skin. It felt nice and I think it might have added some hydration, but there were no significant effects to the skin and I just feel really neither here nor there about it. No repurchase.
Oz Naturals Hyalurionic Acid Serum
I quite liked this serum and found that it was really helpful in keeping my skin hydrated in the winter. I'm not sure that I will pick it up again, just because I'm always trying new skin care and this one was good but not mindblowing, but I'll keep it as a maybe.
Dear by Enprani Bounce Cheese Cream
When Memebox was first gaining steam, this was a product everyone was talking about and one I was dying to try. I love the stringy texture and the way it feels on my skin, and I'm a little obsessed with the way it smells, but unfortunately this breaks me out like nobody's business so I can't keep using it. And since it's been tucked in the closet for over a year I'm tossing it. No repurchase, clearly.
Elizabeth Arden SUPERSTART Skin Renewal Booster
So... This was fine? I don't know. I'm not sure that this really did anything or boosted the effectiveness of my skin care like I thought it would, so I'm not really sure what to say about it. I'd use another sample to try to get a feel for it, but I wouldn't repurchase at this point.
MAKEUP
Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer
This is not empty... but it is old and I don't like it, so it's going in the trash. I found this balled up on my skin and didn't really do anything but actually make my makeup slide off my face more easily. I'm not even sure they make this anymore, but I have no interest in repurchasing.
NYX HD Concealer
First off... I feel like I didn't actually get to use this that many times before it was empty/dried out, which is a bummer. Second, while I do think this is a good concealer and I can see why so many people like it, it's not as good for me as my Maybelline FIT Me, so I'm not going to bother repurchasing.
Annabelle Skinny Brow Liner in Universal Taupe
Lovelovelove. This has actually been one of my favorite liners for several months now and I have a few different shades in my collection that I'm using now that this one has run out. This shade, Universal Taupe, is my personal favorite in the line and I will definitely be repurchasing in the future.
BODY & MISC.
VICHY Eau Thermale Spa Water
The thing I love about this mist is how refreshing it is. I actually keep a bottle on my desk at work just to give my skin a little hit on days when I need a little refreshment. I'm not sure I'll bother to keep a bottle at home anymore, but I will likely keep repurchasing this for my office.
Not Soap, Radio Joy Inducing Bubbles For Bath or Shower
This was a Birchbox sample that sat in a box for ages, but I actually really loved the smell of it once I started using it. I don't think this will be a repurchase, which is the case with most body washes for me, but I did like it while I was using it.
Live Clean Moisturizing Liquid Hand Soap in Vanilla Peppermint
Lovelovelove. The Live Clean Moisturizing Hand Soap is literally the only hand soap that we keep in the house anymore. It has completely wiped Bath & Body Works out of the running. This is BY FAR my favorite scent, which was unfortunately a holiday limited edition, but I have one more bottle in the closet and if they have it again next year I'm going to stock up. For now, I've got a bottle of the Monoi Oil version in my bathroom and I'll always continue to repurchase these soaps.
HAIR
Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo
I'd heard so many good things about this dry shampoo that I was dying to try it and I deifnitely really liked it. I loved the smell, I think it did a good job of getting the greasiness out of my hair, and it helped to give my hair a little volume. If this was easy for me to find locally, I'd likely pick it up again at some point in the future, but I don't love it enough to go out of my way to order it.
Ion Color Brilliance Brights Semi-Permanent Hair Color in Magenta
I LOVE MY PINK HAIR. It's been almost three weeks and my hair has now faded to a really dimensional kind of rose gold shade. I have a couple of purple shades in this line that I want to try next, but if I want to go pink again this is going to be the one I choose.
12 Benefits Instant Healthy Hair Treatment
This product was in this month's favorites - so you know how I feel about it. I've got another bottle on the go at the moment and it's getting a lot of use. However, like the Amika Dry Shampoo, I would pick this up if I could find it locally but I probably won't search it out.
PHYTO Paris Phytokeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray
This was a nice spray and I did think it did a good job when I used it before flat ironing my hair, keeping everything looking shiny and protected. That being said, I likely won't repurchase this just because it's a little more spendy than I would like.
BRUSH CLEANSER
Sephora Citrus Brush Cleaner
This is by far my favorite spot cleaner for my brushes. I love the citrus scent of it and the fact that it doesn't dry my brushes out and leave them brittle and vulnerable to breaking. Definite repurchase.
Sephora Solid Brush Cleaner
This is actually tied with the blendercleanser solid for my favorite solid brush cleanser and I will definitely repurchase this as well. When it comes to doing a major brush cleaning, I want this in my corner. Definite repurchase.
Quo Solid Brush Cleanser
I wanted to love this, I really did, but I just didn't feel like it did as good a job as the Sephora Brush Cleaner did. I found I had to work pretty hard with this to get all of the product out of my brushes and then it was also hard to rinse and felt a little bit like it left a residue. This wasn't my favorite and I definitely won't repurchase.
MASKS
Global Beauty Care Retinol Spa Treatment Mask
Pretty sure this is in EVERY empties post. It's good. It's cheap. Will probably repurchase.
MEDIHEAL Pumpkin Sheet Mask
I picked this up at Superstore last month and I was really impressed with it. I liked the way the sheet fit and my skin felt really good once I took it off. Will likely repurchase.
AMOREPACIFIC Time Response Targeted Eye Masque
YOU GUYS. So, these masks are expensive. Like really expensive. But they are AMAZING. I actually squeezed all of the essence out of this one and rubbed it all over my face, neck, and chest and my skin looked absolutely incredible the next day. I have a few more of these... but I'm hoarding them. Not sure I can justify the repurchase, but they're so incredible!
VICHY NORMADERM 3in1 Scrub + Cleanser + Mask
I used this mask when I was dealing with some hormonal breakouts and I think it did quite a good job of getting in there and helping to clean out my pores and deal with my breakouts. I'm not sure this is something I'd reach for often, but I am tempted to buy a full size for those monthly skin freak outs.
Not gonna lie, I feel pretty good about the fact that I managed to get through nearly 30 different products in my collection over the past month. I'm hoping that this trend continues and I keep rolling with using stuff up and simplifying my collection - except that you guys know that stuff comes in as stuff goes out, so I just have to figure out how to keep a balance with that. But hopefully next month's empties will be a big one too.
Thanks for reading!
