HALLOWEEN NAIL ART: Grunge Romance Spiderwebs Nails

by - October 13, 2023

Today's mani is actually a recreation of one of my favorite designs that I put together two years ago during the Halloween season. As I tend to do, I decided to change the color story and ultimately the overall vibe with this recreation and where the original had a much more gothic sort of vibe overall, I would say that this one definitely leans more romantic. Spooky romantic. Is that a thing? Anyway, that's the vibe ultimately.

Like I said, changing the color story was pretty important for me for this mani and for some reason my mind just kept coming back to OPI's Seven Wonders Of OPI as th ebase. This cool toned pink shade is a teensy bit ashy, which felt like the right move as far as going for that sort of grungy romantic vibe. To create the grungy vibe, I added some grungy stamping in a concrete grey stamping polish that I think worked quite well with the pink. The added slightly industrial touch works, I think.

For the stamping, I used two images from the Pict You PY-J050. By playing around with the placement, both in terms of direction and angle, I was able to get each nail looking completely different just by using these two images. For the outer nails, I kept it really simple with just a grungy spiderweb. For my middle finger I also used the spiderweb image, but I added a small spider right at the tip. For the ring finger, I used the larger spiderweb and rose image, which I think really drives home the romantic sort of vibe.

Once I was happy with the design, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat to prevent smudging and then finished with a matte top coat to bring down the shine. And voila!

I didn't really know that what I needed in my life was a little bit of girly grunge, but there you have it. I feel like this is one of those designs that works somewhat perfectly for Halloween without being too on the nose, but could also work a lot of the rest of the time if spiderwebs and girly grunge is what you're into. And it is definitely what I'm into at the moment.
