MONTHLY FAVORITES: February 2016

by - March 01, 2016

I feel like February has been a crazy month for me as far as beauty is concerned. I feel like I've been constantly trying new things and March is going to be packed full of product reviews of all of the products that I've been trying. Weirdly enough, that made it a little bit harder to choose my favorites thing month, because there were just so many products on the menu that it was really hard to focus. That said, I did get a selection of products that I've been loving, most of them fairly new to my collection, and I'm pretty excited to share them all with you guys!

So without further adieu.....

HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Hair Oil* (Full Review)
I have to say, I was surprised at how much I love this little vial of hair oil. I like to use this as the last step of styling my hair, because I feel like it smooths everything out and makes my hair feel and look really soft. Because I've recently bleached my hair, it needs a little bit of TLC, and I think this does a really great job of giving my hair the boost of hydration and softness that it needs. Also, it's SO affordable.

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water*
I've been looking for a Micellar water that can hold up to my Bioderma for ages now, and this is definitely the first one that's actually done that. This doesn't quite tackle waterproof mascara the way I'd like it to, but I love it for literally everything else. You can bet that the waterproof version is going to be finding its way into my beauty purchases for March!

NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads
I used these ages ago and I remembered liking them, so I decided to grab them again now that I've run out of my Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, since it's a little easier to get my hands on, and I'm definitely enjoying it again. I feel like using an acid toner as part of my nightly skincare routine has become a must and this is a really good one. I feel like they also changed the pads since the last time I used them, because these ones are really soft on the skin and don't scratch at all. I'm considering trying the extra strength night time pads from this line, because I suspect I could get something from them.

GOSH Prime'n refresh Illuminating Eye Roll-On
This was a spur of the moment purchase when I was doing my SDM points redemption a few weeks ago. I'd been having a lot of trouble with creasing and I wanted an eye cream to use for daytime that was going to tightening things up under there, so I grabbed this one a whim and I've really been loving it. It's not going to replace my more intensive nighttime eye cream, but it's great for lifting everything during the day and I really feel like I can see the tightening effect very quickly.

NYX Wonder Stick in Light/Medium (Full Review)
I feel like I've already used half of the contour side of the stick up, because I pretty much reach for it every day lately. I think this gives a really lovely, natural looking contour and doesn't give me that dirty look on the cheeks. I've heard some people say that they find that this blends away to nothing, but I find that when I use the Real Techniques Sculpting Brush to blend it out, it gives me a really natural looking shadow that gives me a subtle but effective contour. In love with this product!

NUDESTIX Lip+Cheek in Whisper (Full Review)
This is probably the first lip & cheek product I've ever used that I actually really like for both lips and cheeks, amazingly enough. I think the shade is perfect for a really pale pinky nude lip and somehow gives a really natural rosy look on the cheeks as well. I'm really, really glad that I accidentally ended up with two of these because I keep one for lips and one for cheeks!

NYX Glide On Lip Liner in Nude Suede Shoes
Because I absolutely love the Glide On eyeliners, I had to try this out and I definitely wasn't disappointed. This liner is so creamy and easy to apply and blend and really does have amazing lasting power on the lips. I have every intention of picking this up in a few more shades, because I think this might be my favorite lip liner from the drugstore - surpassing my previous favorite, the essence lip liners!

NYX Prismatic Eyeshadow in Punk Heart
This had been on my wishlist for a while and I can't even tell you how many times I'd swatched it but didn't pick it up, so I finally grabbed it with my Optimum Points, and I couldn't be happier with it. I love pairing using this all over the lid for a plum smokey eye and also in the outer corner and paired with a bright shade on the lid for my typical every day eye look. It's just beautiful in every way, really.

L'Oreal Brow Stylist Definer in Brunette (Full Review)
This is my new favorite brow product, having edged out the Anastasia Brow Wiz by being just as good but more affordable. It's easy to apply, lasts really well on the brows, and looks really natural. What more can I say? This is the best brow product in the drugstore, hands down, if you ask me.

Physician's Formula 2-in-1 Eye Booster Liquid Eyeliner (Full Review)
This is an old favorite that I've been using again recently and it's just perfect, as far as I'm concerned. If you have trouble getting a smooth line using a liquid eyeliner, this makes it insanely easy - and that's really my favorite part. I like to use this for a really small flick, because it adds definition at the lashline without being too overwhelming for day to day wear. This is probably my all time favorite liquid liner that I've tried.

Wet N Wild Megaliner in Dark Brown
Speaking of liquid liner! This is a new product from Wet N Wild that I've recently gotten the chance to try and I'm really impressed with it. I feel like a dark brown eyeliner is great for day to day use because it is a little less stark than black but still gives very much the same effect. This one applies really nicely, has good pigmentation, and lasts really well on the eyes. Very impressed, especially for the price point.

I have to say that I really feel like February was a great month for makeup for me - barring the one day when everything went wrong and I looked like a novice who couldn't apply any of her makeup to save her life. I've overwhelmingly enjoyed most of the products that I've tried this month and have found a lot of new favorites while rediscovering some old favorites.

In March, I hope to really shop my stash a little bit more, so hopefully my March favorites will be a little more filled with oldie but goodie type products!

Thanks for reading!
