Prairie Beauty

For me, lashes and brows really help to frame the face and give a perfected look even if I'm doing really natural makeup for the day, so I'm constantly looking for products that are going to take care of those two areas without too much fuss but with the results that I need. I mean, really, who doesn't want beautiful brows and lashes? For me, the lashes are all about volume and the brows are all about precision and a little bit of fullness. There can definitely be some preference involved when it comes to these types of products, so I always like to make my personal tastes clear when I talk about them.

Now, let's get to the favorites, shall we?

I feel like it's becoming a rare thing to find something different in the makeup world that isn't just a gimmick. I think that's why it took me a while to pick up the Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer - I just didn't feel particularly confident that the little rubber toothbrush type wand would be anything more than a gimmick. It was only after hearing some really, really good reviews of it that I finally decided to give it a try and, let me tell you, I was 100% wrong about it! I picked up the shade Soft Brown, which is the middle shade, and I've been reaching for it every single day.

Weirdly enough, 2016 will definitely go down as the year that I actually learned to apply winged liner. And of course, once I learned how to apply it well, it became a staple in my beauty routine and one that I'm starting to feel a little bit naked without. This category is definitely full of hardcore ride-or-die favorites because I don't mess around when it comes to the types of products I like for liner, lashes, and brows.

Shall we proceed? Keep reading for my favorites!

I love when it's new essence products time, don't you? I feel like there's always some great little gems with every release the brand makes - be it seasonal new permanent products or those adorable trend editions. When the time comes that these new products are set to start coming out, I turn into a product stalker. One of the new products that I was looking forward to this season was the new Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara. Like everyone else, it seems, I am a little bit obsessed with brow products and I'm constantly on the lookout for affordable products that measure up to my higher end favorites, so this was definitely a must try for me. I meant to review this sooner, but I've been using it since the first time I saw it in my local Shoppers, so this review is very, very certain!

So how did it measure up? Keep reading to find out!

Since the Hard Candy Brows Now brow gel is one of my favorite things from the whole Hard Candy line, there was no way I wasn't going to be picking up the Brow Ink 24 Hr Brow Stain to try out. This is definitely quite different than most other brow mascaras that I've used in that, as far as I can tell, it's not really intended to provide hold or build volume, but is instead meant to be a tint. Kinda interesting, right? I've heard about these types of products from Asian brands, but I don't think I've ever seen a North American brand do one - Let me know if there are other brands that have this type of product!

I have to admit just how surprised I was that blinc made products other than their flagship mascara, which I've used in the past and really enjoyed. I feel like I should have known that they had a whole line of eye products, but really didn't. So when I got the opportunity to try out some of their products in the Discovery Collection*, I was really excited to see what they had to offer.

I love new drugstore makeup time. Have I mentioned this? I'm absolutely certain that I have, since it's been rolling out like crazy lately and I'm on full drugstore makeup overload. Between new products and Shoppers Drug Mart starting to carry new brands in their stores, I'm spending a little too much time stalking their shelves lately. Anyway, one of the most anticipated spring launches for me was the new products from essence. To be honest, any new launch from essence is exciting for me, because they really are one of my favorite bargain brands. Unfortunately, some of the launches I was most excited about are Target exclusives, and therefore not available on Canadian shelves anywhere, but I did grab a few things that I was very intrigued by.

To check out what I picked up along with some first impressions and mini-reviews, keep reading!

For about the last year or so, I've been pretty eyebrow obsessed, I have to admit. Oddly enough, this has been probably the first time in my life that I've actually really liked my natural eyebrows. Even back in the 90s when tiny thin eyebrows were very much the trend, I never really overplucked my brows, which I'm very happy for now that a thicker, more natural brow is the look that most people are going for. I never had to try to grow my brows back and I don't have to fill them in a ton. For me, I just like to add a little bit of volume to the outer ends of my brows and give a slightly more defined look to the rest while keeping it looking fairly natural.

The one product that I've been using fairly religiously over the past year is the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash. I find that this pencil gives a really natural look to my brows and the spooly on the end does a really good job of brushing everything out at the end to make it look really natural, but I've been looking for a good brow gel to use along with it. That, my friends, has been quite a struggle. When I saw this is previews a couple of months ago, I absolutely knew that I had to try it. As you'll see when you look closer, this does seem to be a bit of a dupe for the Benefit Gimme Brow, which has been highly sought after since it launched.

Keep reading for a closer look and for my thoughts.
