Prairie Beauty

I have to admit, the state of 2020 has meant that even though I've still been getting up and going to work this entire time, I've more often than not been skipping makeup in a way that I haven't in years.  Because of that, getting out this review has taken a little bit longer than I intended. That said, when I've been reaching for foundation and concealer recently (admittedly, the latter more than the former) the Avon Cashmere Complexion Foundation & Concealer* have been the ones I've been using, so I've definitely given a solid test.

It's been a while since I've done a foundation review here on the blog, so it's definitely time to remedy that. Foundation is such a subjective thing, really, and with so many options at the drugstore I know that I personally heavily rely on the content of reviews to inform what I really want to try. I've also been finding that this season change (along with some seriously high stress levels) has been really effecting my skin and some of the foundations that I had been loving just aren't getting it done anymore. For the past couple of months I've been trying out the Revlon Photoready Candid Foundation & Concealer* and I'm super excited to share my thoughts on them with you guys!

When I found out that we were going to be getting Catrice Cosmetics in stores here in Canada, the first thing I wanted to get my hands on was the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation. I definitely heard some amazing things about it and I just wanted my hands all over it. Of course, when I saw the first Catrice displays at my local Real Canadian Superstore, there was none of this in sight, but recently the end cap displays have gone up at Shoppers Drug Mart and I was finally able to get my hands on this baby!

I feel like I've been trying out a lot of foundations from the drugstore lately and I've been having a lot of success. I feel like drugstore foundation formulas are really diversifying and improving, offering formulas that address a lot of different needs and are starting to rival much higher end products in quality and performance. So, of course, I was super excited to finally get to try out the Burt's Bees Good Glows Liquid Makeup*, since I've had my eye on it for a while now.

I feel like lately the internet has been really encouraging me to try out some things that I almost certainly would have passed on if not for a strong recommendation from a trusted source. While I do try a decent number of different drugstore foundations, I tend to stick to brands that have done me right in the past, but in the past year or so I feel like there have been some surprises from brands that I wouldn't have expected to really enjoy. Enter the new Hard Candy Glamoflauge Full Coverage Foundation. I think it's fair to say that Hard Candy isn't really a brand that a lot of people look to for complexion products, but when one of my favorite and most trusted Youtubers gave this one a good review and I saw that it was only like $7, I went for it.

Recently, I've been trying out some products from new KBeauty brand TeenCrush and I have to say, I'm generally really impressed with the overall quality and performance of the products. That said, there is a winner above all of the others for me - and I don't think I actually thought this would be the one. The TeenCrush Wassup Problem Glow Cushion* is a traditional cushion type foundation/BB cream and I was expecting it to perform much like other cushions that I've tried... but it definitely stands apart, at least from where I'm standing.
