Well... 2020 was supposed to be the year that I cared about my hair... but then 2020 happened and that sort of went by the wayside for the better part of the year. However, as we've started to settle into the madness I've gone back to really thinking about my hair (with some surprising revelations, which I'll get into in a later post.) What sort of restarted my hair care focus was that for about the past month, I've been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to try out the NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Shine Shampoo & Conditioner* and I've really, really been loving both the experience and the results.

Hey guys! I have to admit, I'm way more excited for today's review than I thought I would be when I first started trying out the products. As I've mentioned before, I decided that 2020 was going to be the year I care about my hair - and care for it better - and with the first quarter of the month officially gone, I feel like I'm actually sticking to that particular resolution. For about the past month or so, I've been using the AVON Elastine Propolithera Damage Repair Hair Care Products* whenever I wash my hair and I'm super, super excited to share them with you guys!

During these hotter months of the year - and trust me, here in Winnipeg June has been a bit of a scorcher - I definitely find that I have to wash my hair more often than I do in the colder months. During most of the year, I wash my hair every third day because I find that it helps maintain the natural oils that keep my hair and scalp from feeling dehyrdated. However, during the warmer months I have to wash my hair quite a bit more often, so I have to choose hair care products that account for that shift. Recently, I've been trying out the Dove Derma+Care Anti-Dandruff Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner, which I was really excited about because I've had such good luck with their more hydrating hair care products in the past.

Here's a true story... I am literally willing to try just about any hair care product if it smells like coconut. Well, that's not entirely true. I am willing to try just about any hair care product if it smells like nice smelling coconut. I don't like a really chemically coconut scent, I want something that has that rich, gorgeous, transports-you-to-the-islands type of scent. Obviously, I was super excited to try out the Marc Anthony Coconut Hair Care Products*. One of the things that always draws me to Marc Anthony products is that they're sulfate free, which is important to me personally because I do have coloured hair and I want it to last.

Recently, with very much appreciation to Glamsense, I had the opportunity to try out some hair products that I'd never tried before - the John Frieda Frizz Ease Forever Smooth Shampoo, Conditioner, & Leave In Cream Primer*. John Frieda has actually been a long time favorite of mine and I've often repurchased the Brilliant Brunette products from their line because they did a great job of making my hair look healthy and shiny. Interestingly enough, these products arrived a couple of days before I decided that I wanted to experience curly hair and got a perm, so I've used them both in my natural straight, fine hair and my newly curly (completely out of my comfort zone styling wise) hair.

Sometimes I like to start these posts with little stories, and this is definitely one of those times. The first time I showered at my boyfriend's place, almost three years ago now, he only had two products in his shower. The first was a bottle of shampoo for dry scalp and the second was a bar of man soap. I'm still working on getting him to use skin care products, joking with him about how much older than me he's going to look as we age if he doesn't start throwing a little moisturizer and SPF on, but I've had no problem at all getting him to use Live Clean hair products - and he loves them!

Recently, Live Clean released their Live Clean Mens Classic Clean Shampoo* and their Live Clean Shampoo 2-in-1*, and when they arrived at the house he was really excited to try them out.

I love to see companies trying something new that breaks out of the standard that we've gotten used to, so I was really excited to have the opportunity to try out 3 products from the new Tresemmé Beauty-Full Volume line*. Now, I actually tried conditioning my hair before shampoo several years ago with traditional shampoo and conditioner after hearing someone with beautiful hair talk about using this process. I don't actually remember what the results were for me at that time, but I was more than happy to try the process again. Now, this review is going to be based on my own personal hair texture and needs, but I will try to be objective because I think it's important. To give you a frame of reference, my hair is quite fine but not thin, pin-straight, and currently damaged from having a balayage and applying vegetable dyes to the bleached parts of my hair.

If you look back through this blog, you'll notice that one of my favorite hair care brands is L'Oreal. There's a few products from them that I always end up going back to, specifically their hair masks, and I've always been a big fan of what the products I've previously tried have done for my hair. It's timely that I was able to try the Color Radiance line for the first time, thanks to Influenster, shortly after I've coloured my hair a kind of rose gold balayage. You may have seen the first day it was pink on my Instagram, but that faded quite quickly (before I was using these products, by the way!) and since then I've maintained a subtle rose gold look to the ends of my hair. Anyone who has used semi-permanent, vegetable based dyes in their hair knows that they fade very, very quickly, so this was a good test.

So how did it go? Keep reading for more!

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I recently coloured my hair pink. It was kind of a whimsical thing - a couple of times a year I get the urge to colour my hair in unnatural shades and recently I've been giving in to that urge. Anyway, in order to get my hair light enough to be pink, I had to have some serious lightening done, which has left my skin a little drier looking and feeling than I might like. In my opinion, that makes this a perfect time to test out some different hair products because I feel like now is the time when I really need to nurture my hair and keep it healthy. Recently, I got the opportunity to try out some products from the HASK Monoi Coconut Oil line and really put them to the test on my stressed out hair. I've been using the Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shampoo*, the  Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Conditioner*, the   Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Deep Conditioner*, and the  Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shine Hair Oil* and I'm definitely ready to give you my thoughts on each!

Ahh haircare. I admit, I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to hair care, but I do know what I like and what works for me. I don't do a lot of hair posts on the blog, but I actually do pretty consistently try out new products and the collection of various hair products both in my bathroom and on my vanity would likely make it appear that I'm much more of a hair enthusiast than I really am. That said, I definitely did have some hair favorites this year that kept my coiff taken care of and I wanted to share them with you guys along with the rest of my favorites this year!

So check out my 2015 haircare favorites below!

Recently I had the opportunity to try out some of the favorites from the Live Clean hair care line and the one that I had absolutely been dying to try was the Apple Cider line. For a while  now, I've been thinking that I need to start using a clarifying shampoo to really in there and be rid of the product residue and the things that most shampoos just don't get, and I'd heard fantastic things about this particular one. I was also quite interested in the Ultra Light Conditioner, because with my fine hair the weight and rinsability of my conditioner really does make a difference!

I try a lot of different shampoos and conditioners, I admit. I'm not really sure why, but there's always something new or something that smells really good or something that just seems like it'll solve all of my hair woes, and I just have to try it. I don't tend to spend a lot of money on these products, so what's in my shower is pretty much always from the drugstore, with an assist from a higher end deep conditioner that I use about once a week. I don't actually usually use matching pairs, because I feel like it's completely unnecessary, but I do like to try out pairs together and see how they work out. Anyway, clearly I love trying out new things and I actually won the Live Clean Coconut Milk Moisturizing Shampoo & Conditioner in a blog giveaway, and I was insanely excited to get to the try them out. So let's see how they measured up, shall we?
